Golf Challenge to raise funds for a house for Ms Busiswe Duma (74)

sky_2117For the third year in succession, following Govan Mbeki Awards ceremony the Department of Human Settlements hosts the Golf Challenge.

The Golf Challenge invites the private sector, public sector and sponsors for a day golf where funds are raised to build a house for one vulnerable beneficiary, this means priority is given to elderly, the disabled, military veterans and child headed families.

This year the Awards were held in Gauteng yesterday and today, 10 Nov 2017 the Golf Challenge is underway at the Blue Valley Golf Estate to raise funds for  a house for Ms Busiswe Duma (74) from Sewelo, Pietermaritzburg KwaZulu Natal who survives on government grants. She stays with her two great – grandchildren at a school she used to work at before she became a pensioner.

About twenty institutions and private companies have contributed towards the building of Ms Duma’s house.
