The National Department of Human Settlements in partnership with UNISA will be hosting the Human Settlements Seminar on the 15th of August 2017.

Minister Lindiwe Sisulu will be delivering a key note address under the Theme: “How the Human Settlements Sector is responding to the rapid increase of urbanization in South Africa”.

The seminar aims to provide an opportunity to outline Departments’ vision on urban transformations and allow for its reflection in South Africa.

The seminar will serve as a platform to discuss the incremental professionalization programme of the human settlements sector.

Among other issues to be discussed include, the establishment of Human Settlements Professional Body, developing of tailor-made qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate level and focusing research themes to encourage thinking as well as creation and innovation in responding to human settlements challenges.

The expected outcome of the seminar is to identify root causes of challenges faced by the sector and test ideas in a collaborative and engaging environment with leaders across the sector.

The seminar will also  reflect  progress made by Human Settlements sector and how the existing challenges can be resolved.
